This Privacy Policy explains how PINGMEE Ltd ("PINGMEE", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses and shares your personal data when you use the PINGMEE mobile application and related services (the "App").
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the EU GDPR where applicable.

2. What data we collect
2.1 Account and profile data
- Name, username or display name
- Date of birth (to confirm you are 18+)
- Email address and/or phone number
- Profile photo(s), bio, gender settings, and goals
2.2 Interests and filters
Interests, filters, and status messages you post. These can reveal or imply information about your lifestyle and preferences.
2.3 Location data
Foreground location: Precise GPS coordinates collected while active.
Background location: Continuous updates if "Always Allow" is granted, used for "crossed paths" and AI suggestions.
2.4 Government ID
We may collect ID documents and selfies to verify your identity and age. We do not sell this data.
3. How we collect your data
- Directly from you during account creation and profile editing.
- Automatically through analytics SDKs and technical tracking.
- From your device via permissions (location, camera, etc.).
- From third-party verification and safety providers.
4. Why we use your data
4.1 Operation: To provide and manage the App services (Contract).
4.2 Verification: To keep the platform safe and confirm age (Legitimate Interests/Legal Obligation).
4.3 Personalisation: To show relevant users and match suggestions (Legitimate Interests/Consent).
4.4 Safety: To detect harassment, spam, and fraud (Legitimate Interests).
5. Automated decision-making
We use AI (OpenAI) to decide which users to show you, generate match suggestions, and moderate content for offensive material.
Content flagged by automated systems may be removed automatically or escalated for human review. You can appeal decisions at support@pingmee.app.
6. Who we share your data with
Service Providers: Supabase (Hosting), PostHog (Analytics), Sentry (Errors), Expo (Notifications), OpenAI (AI/Moderation).
Other Users: Your visible profile info, approximate location, and status messages.
Legal: Law enforcement if required by law or to protect safety.
7. International data transfers
Data may be transferred outside the UK/EEA (e.g., to the US for Supabase or OpenAI). We use Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure your data remains protected.
8. How long we keep your data
- Profile Data: While active, plus up to 6 years for legal purposes.
- Location: Most recent only; history not retained.
- Messages: While active; 90-day retention for deleted items.
- ID Verification: ID deleted after verification; status retained.
9. Your rights
You have rights to access, correction, erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction, and data portability. You can request a data export in JSON format via the App settings.
10. Children
PINGMEE is strictly for users aged 18 and over. If we discover a user under 18, we will immediately close the account and delete the associated data.
11. Security
We use TLS/HTTPS encryption, database encryption at rest, and secure credential storage (Keychain/Keystore) to protect your information.
12. Cookies
We use PostHog, Sentry, and Expo SDKs for internal app tracking and crash reporting. You can limit tracking in your device settings.
13. Third-party services
This policy does not apply to third-party links. Review their respective policies before sharing data.
14. California residents (CCPA)
California residents have rights to know, delete, and opt-out of the sale of personal info. Note: we do not sell your personal information.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. Material changes will be notified via in-app notice or email. Continued use acknowledges the updated terms.
